Listed: FAs' Favorite Fund Shops, Retirement Partners

Ignites Research and Financial Advisor IQ are proud to present the inaugural Financial Advisor IQ Service Awards.

These awards recognize fund companies, retirement plan recordkeepers and Erisa law specialists that advisors say are outstanding partners to their practices.

We tallied the votes of 1,144 advisors surveyed this summer across 21 categories, including best relationship and product management teams. We also asked about the fund and exchange-traded fund providers with the best macro commentary, portfolio manager letters, audio/visual content and white papers.

Among retirement specialist advisors, we asked about recordkeepers with the best pricing, cybersecurity, reporting, service and participant tools.

The awards are an important reminder of the strong bond between financial advisors and the service partners they rely on. Such ties are especially critical now, as Covid-19 has fundamentally changed how advisors and their partners interact.

Among advisors we surveyed, only 12% worked part-time at home and part-time at the office before the pandemic. But now, 56% say that going forward they plan to split their time between home and office.

Voters included members of the Financial Times top-ranked advisor lists and readers of Financial Advisor IQ.  Advisors voted only for firms with which they said they had worked. 

We split asset managers into two groups: those with more than $75 billion in mutual and ETF assets, and those with less. Managers had to have at least $5 billion under management as of mid-year to qualify.
