Raymond James Lures $1B FA Team from Truist

By Alex Padalka June 11, 2021

Raymond James says it has added a team of financial advisors overseeing close to $1 billion.

John Gill and Bryan Horner join Raymond James & Associates, the firm’s employee advisor channel, in Virginia Beach, Va., as Gill & Horner Wealth Management Group of Raymond James. They’re joined by business practice coordinator Mari Hurd and senior registered client service Katie Bosler, according to the company. The team previously managed $975 million at Truist Investment Services, Raymond James says.

Gill began his financial services industry career 35 years ago and Horner more than a decade ago, according to the company.

Raymond James and its affiliated companies have added several financial advisors from rivals in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, Concurrent — an advisor-owned partnership affiliated with Raymond James Financial Servicesannounced that it added 10 financial advisor teams collectively managing more than $1 billion from Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley.

In May, Signature Wealth Group — an independent organization aligned with RJFS — picked up an experienced financial advisor from Waddell & Reed, while RJA nabbed an advisor overseeing $468 million at Wells Fargo.

Also in May, RJA lured a father-and-son team who managed around $220 million at Robert W. Baird.

But earlier this month, Raymond James lost an advisor managing $155 million to LPL Financial and another advisor practice overseeing $221 million to Advisor Group subsidiary Woodbury Financial Services.
