Moderation Guidelines

We welcome your comments on all of our articles and columns. But every comment must meet certain standards, or else we'll edit it or, in extreme cases, remove it from the site.

What We're Looking for in Comments

Content must pass the following tests:

What Happens When You Post

When you comment on any Financial Advisor IQ article, you will receive a copy of your submission in the email associated with your account. The comment will appear on our site immediately, and will also be reviewed by our editors.

Editing Your Comments

We reserve the right to edit any and all comments for clarity, punctuation, spelling, grammar and adherence to our general standards. For any substantive edits, we will do our best to ensure that you have had a chance to review it before the revised comment goes live on the site. We'll work with you, of course . but the final decision will be made by our editorial staff. (You'll retain the right to not have your edited comment published, too.)

If you feel that our edit misses the mark, let us know. We seek to make sure a comment gets your intended message across while meeting our desire for focused, pertinent comments.

Removing Comments

Beyond editing, we may remove posts entirely, if it violates our general standards. If this happens to you, we'll give you the opportunity, working with our editors, to have your comments edited and reposted. Our editor will send any edits of your submission to the email address associated with your account.

How Anonymous Can I Be?

You may submit posts without revealing your name and company. Understanding what role someone plays in the industry, however, can help readers place a comment in its proper context. If you need to be anonymous, try to cloak your identity in a way that provides such context while shielding your identity.

How to Contest Posts

If you believe that someone's comment is unfair or inappropriate, or is openly promoting their business please contact immediately. We will review the offending post and may pull down such comments.
